"SIGN SIGN EVERYWHERE A SIGN"
There is a tradition at most cottages to hang a sign. Whether it be the cottage name or the family name... so when I saw this hunk of wood my first thought was... wow, that is NOT gonna sell... then I looked at it again.
It had an inscription on it for someone regarding their wedding day and the love the two of them had for each other... blah blah blah. So I thought, "Well, I could sand that and fill it in with wood filler." Because no one wants declarations of love on the front of their cottage!
So I basically have a circle with some pretty maple leaves around it. I bought it for $5 and brought it home. After a week or so of back and forth with Bob, we came up with a phrase that seems to describe not just the idea of the cottage but life in general and how we try to live it. "Joie de Vie" (also French so might make the neighbours happy... )
It is now our cottage sign.
1. I printed off the font I liked and used chalk to trace it on the back of the page.
2. I sanded and wood filler'd in the wedding love... yes, that did feel a little wrong.
3. Paint paint paint...
ps. yes, those are my red toes... and yes, that is a chocolate wrapper...
All done... hindsight again being 20/20 and all. I forgot to look at the back when I started to make sure I was actually ensuring the "built in hanger" would be at the top... a reminder that I am good... just not that good! :P
