The American invasion!

Some of our friends (kids) from the Philly area came for a visit. They arrived a day early, (thank goodness our other visitors had left! :P ). Five guys ready to ski! The first day Bob took them for a drive and showed them the Lac Saguay Resto Bar, Depanneur, gas station and the all important SAQ!  The remainder of that day was spent  playing games and watching the Juniors play. GO CANADA GO!
It was freaking cold outside so no one was tempted to brave it for long. When you put out the dogs and upon bringing them in your fingers freeze briefly to the clasp, (like a tongue on a fire pole) it's too cold out!
The next day we got the skidoos all set up and sent them out on the lake! They had their snowboards should have been fun... right?!?

While skidoo-ing they encountered a fair bit of slush... slowed down, the skidoo got stuck and started to sink into the slush. I frantically called Bob, (was on the phone with a client) to come and SAVE them!!!  Bob calm as ever walked across the lake to where they were and lifted the snowmobile out of about 6" of slush and got them back to shore.
(Some lake "mechanics": when the lake freezes and then snow falls on top of the lake it causes the ice (which can be a foot or more thick) to sink (from the weight of the snow) or crack. When this happens, waters ebbs through the cracks or flows on from the shoreline and soaks the snow. The snow is such a great insulating layer that it doesn't freeze. Yes, it remains slushy, even after a week of -20+ temperatures day and night!)
So while I was afraid they were sinking, Bob was confident there was ice below.

We then set them up to go out on the trails nearby. Again, should have been out for about 30 minutes on the "loop".  After an hour we got a call. They were lost. Not only were they lost, they were on the other side of the 117 passed Lac Saguay... (how the heck?!?!)  They finally made their way back to the cabin and I took the last two out to the trail, showed them how to get there (and back) and sent them off on their own to hit the trail.  They did manage to find their way back. Apparently had a little trouble as one of them had ditched a skidoo... lots of pushing and pulling and they freed it up and headed home. The next 3 days (we had gone home) they spent it skiing/snowboarding at Mont Tremblant and had a blast! (about 40 minutes south of us.) See, I told you there would be some interesting/funny stories! :P
